Okapi are herbivores native to central Africa. They are slightly larger than zebra and while also have stripes on it's hind quarters and all four legs reminiscent of zebra okapi are actually the only close living relative of giraffe. Okapi were only "discovered" by Europeans and the western world in 1901.
The Okapi (Okapia johnstoni) is strongly endangered/listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List due to illegal human predation.
Okapi were first made available to players in the game in late April, 2019. Okapi cost 83 diamonds. Player may nhave 6 okapi per enclosure. The inclusion of okapi was the result of a contest on upjer's facebook page asking for recommendations of new animals.
